Well first of all, the thing that stands out about this parsha is it’s named after a woman!  How many parshas in the Torah can say that?

Of course, there’d just been that bit in the Torah about Abraham trying to kill her son.  There’s a midrash that said that Sarah was so mad about the near sacrifice of Isaac that she stopped talking to Abraham.

Nevertheless, Abraham must have loved Sarah, because he went to a whole lot of trouble to get a cave to bury her in. He even was willing to pay 400 pieces of silver to the cave.  Probably a lot of money in those days.

And he cried for this 105 year old woman, with whom he’d had his differences, but who may still have been the love of his life.
