Our Presidium

Gloria Caldarella, Robert Fischer, and Victoria Prusnofsky are our Presidium team and have over 50 years of combine membership at HCS.

Hebrew Congregation of Somers is a wonderful shul situated in the woods of Shenorock. We embrace all individuals and families who share a love of Judaism. Come to our very popular monthly dairy pot luck dinners on a Friday night with a children's service or our Shabbat morning services followed with a Lunch and Learn. Check our calendar and visit us!

Gloria Caldarella is a long-standing member of Hebrew Congregation of Somers (HCS) who has served on the Board of Directors for several years, including as corresponding secretary and current co-president. She has lived in Mahopac for over 28 years; her children were Bar and Bat Mitzvah at HCS and still find it a comfortable place to worship.

Gloria is a retired speech language pathologist, having held the position of Clinic Director and Professor in the Communication Disorders program at Mercy College for 21 years. Prior to relocating to Putnam County, she was Assistant Clinic Director at Hofstra University for seven years and, before that, held teaching and clinical positions at Queens College and Brooklyn College. She is still employed at Mercy College part-time as an Instructional Designer, mentoring faculty in strategies to improve their teaching effectiveness and increase student engagement. Gloria is secretary of the Advisory Committee of Westchester RSVP (a volunteer position), a federally-funded program that oversees senior volunteers placed in organizations throughout Westchester county. She also volunteers at the Mahopac Public Library and is a member of one of the Library's monthly book groups. Gloria looks forward to the opportunities for collaboration with her valuable colleagues that the new HCS presidential presidium offers.

Vicki Stein Prusnofsky, L,C.S.W., a Hebrew Congregation of Somers member for many years, has served as a Board of Directors member, a Sisterhood member, the Social Action chair, the Rabbi Advisory Committee chair,a Security Committee member and a Youth Group instructor. Vicki is also a member of the Education Committee, and the Membership committee.  She is Community Liason, Hebrew School Supervisor, B'nei Mitzvah Coordinator, Rabbi Liason and Cantor Liason.   

Vicki recently retired from a 25 year career as a Clinical Social Worker/Psychotherapist preceded by a ten year career as a teacher of English.

Vicki and her family have lived in Westchester County for over 40 years.  Her husband is a local psychiatrist and their daughter, also in the health professions , is an Emergency Medicine physician.

Vicki considers it a tremendous honor , a great responsibility and a rewarding experience to be a co-president sharing the position with two remarkable people.
