Hebrew Congregation of Somers Hosts "A Taste of Judaism"
Free Educational Program
Somers, NY, Feb. 8, 2009:
Hebrew Congregation of Somers is one of six Westchester synagogues hosting
A Taste of Judaism: Are You Curious?™, The synagogue's rabbi,
Fred Schwalb, will lead the Somers classes in this unique program --
designed to engage "beginners" in learning more about Judaism. All classes
are free of charge and open to Jews and non-Jews alike.
For those who would like to explore or re-explore the foundations of Jewish
tradition, or for those who may be searching for an entrée into Jewish life,
the course covers the Jewish perspective on spirituality, values, and
community.
Comfortable surroundings and an informal atmosphere encourage free and lively discussion of Judaism's approach to living in our rapidly changing society. Using traditional and modern Jewish texts, Rabbi Schwalb will discuss the ways that Judaism addresses issues in our personal and professional lives.
Two three-session classes are scheduled, and registration is required:
A Taste of Judaism: Are You Curious?™, sponsored by UJA Federation of New York, has attracted more than 50,000 participants across North America during the past 10 years, welcoming all who are curious about the Jewish tradition: unaffiliated Jews, interfaith couples, and interested non-Jews.
