HCS High Holiday Schedule of Services

5769/2008

Please note that first-time visitors to our High Holiday Services are offered free first-year membership with free High Holiday tickets.  Please contact us for information about getting tickets.

We are pleased to introduce the new Reconstructionist Mahzor, LEYAMIM NORA'IM, into the 2008 High Holiday services.  The Mahzor is an inclusive, comprehensive volume for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. It is rooted in the traditional Hebrew liturgy, yet full contemporary in its approach.  Wonderful commentary and insights accompany many of the prayers.

We welcome Ruth Ossher as our hazzanit for the 5769 (2008) High Holidays. Ruth has been an active congregant of Congregation Sons of Israel and Jewish Family Congregation for many years. She has been studying Shabbat and High Holiday prayer and cantillation with Cantor Jeff Shiovitz.  She has a lovely voice and has led services, and has chanted Torah and Haftarah on Shabbat and the High Holidays.  She has, also,  been a Hebrew school teacher and tutor at JFC for 19 years. Ruth and her family live in South Salem.
