Every year, the biggest issue the parents have is “how do I get my child comfortable at services?” They are expecting that the prayers will be learned during the Hebrew School sessions, which they are. Unfortunately, reviewing the prayers once a week is not enough time to neither cover all of them nor be able to say them with fluidity.
There are two ways in which our students will be able to review the prayers outside of the school setting. The first is to attend services. They will be saying and hearing the congregation as one voice (although sometimes out of tune!) and with Kavanah, intention. Another way to learn the prayers is to use the CDs that were sent home with the Gimmel, Dalet and Hey classes. These CDs cover all the Friday and Saturday prayers word by word. It helps with reading and pronunciation and can be done any time from the comfort of your home. If you are interested in using these CDs, please see me or email me at hadani@hotmail.com. I have copies and would be happy to share them
If you would like to talk, please e-mail me at hadani@hotmail.com
Tal Hadani-Pease
The Hebrew Congregation of Somers is delighted to welcome back our Hebrew School Principal, Tal Hadani. For a number of years now, Ms. Hadani has used her wonderfully creative spirit to inspire our children to explore all things Judaic. Ms. Hadani came to us with a Yeshiva education, an art degree from SUNY Purchase, and extensive and varied experiences working with children, especially in the arts and Judaic education. Ms. Hadani’s father is Israeli, so she has traveled to Israel many times and is fluent in Hebrew. Ms. Hadani’s keen intelligence, administrative skills, and creativity have proved to be a wonderful enhancement to our little Shul in the Woods. Her deep appreciation of our culture, heritage, and rituals has enriched our families' lives. In addition to her principal duties, Ms. Hadani will continue to teach part of the Hey class and sing and dance with all the students. Ms. Hadani lives in Sherman, Connecticut with her family (five-year-old Ela, one-year-old Abigail and husband Andrew Pease, who is the band teacher for the Rye City School District and single-handedly built their house from the ground up). |
