Committees to Join

We are a small congregation with an open community.  We depend on our volunteers to help us thrive.  Whether you have a lot of time or a little time, your help is welcome. Many of our committees meet on Sunday mornings during Hebrew school.  Please check the calendar, the newsletter, and weekly HCS Happenings emails for dates and feel free to just show up for meetings of the following groups.  All groups have committee chairs and volunteers.

Board - determines all of the policy for the congregation.  The Board meets once a month for two hours.  All members are welcome to attend board meetings.

Ritual Committee - works with the rabbi and cantor to provide meaningful services for the congregation.  The ritual committee meets periodically during the year.

Sisterhood - All women members of the congregation are automatically members of Sisterhood.  We plan social activities, raise money for the synagogue, and maintain the Web site and the monthly newsletter.

Buildings and Grounds - deals with issues concerning the buildings and ground of HCS.

Education - works with the Hebrew School principal, the rabbi and teachers to promote a positive educational environment.  Meets every month.

Membership - does publicity, answers all new member inquires, and plans our yearly New Member Barbeque.  Meets three times per year.

Social Action Group - This group has organized food drives, shipments of supplies to American and Israeli troops, cleanup and beatification of the HCS grounds and of our community, and work sessions at the Food Patch.
